Velvet is an opulent, textured fabric, with very specific cleaning and maintenance instruction set.
Before washing or cleaning, read carefully the cleaning instructions attached.
If there’s a “dry-clean only” tag, leave it to the pros; use the services of a reliable, specialist cleaning company.
To wash it, turn it inside out, so that the pile side is not rubbed directly. Use a mild detergent, prefer gentle hand washing.

Avoid the dryer. Hang dry the velvet on a padded, soft hanger.
If you fold and store velvet, place soft tissue in the middle of the folds.
Here’s one last great tip: You can maintain the look of the fabric by rolling it in the direction of the pile, with the pile on the inside as you roll.
